Nuts About The Market

As many of you know, my cooking skills are dependent on the KISS philosophy— keep it simple stupid. I have burned hard boiled eggs several times and struggle to get my timing right so everything is hot at once. But when there are vendors like Crumbleberry Farms, owned and operated by couple Ben & Nicole Gustman, it is so easy to enjoy the locally made products in their most truest form so I hesitate to sweat more than I need to during these summer days and will just sample the goods as they come.

One of the recent posts from the market showed peppers stuffed with tbeir Five Pepper Jack cashew cheese and the thought of the amazing taste and the simple process elated me. To not dirty a dish to then be rewarded with a mouthful of flavor and to support local is like the triple threat. If its healthy for you too, then I’m just over the moon.

With an array of flavors like sweet Blueberry Cheesecake and savory Garlic Dill Hemp, there are plenty of opportunities to get a healthy quantity of quality product. Nicole began making and selling vegan baked goodies and their vegan line grew into what we know now. Available at several storefronts across town (Bleu Fox Cheese Shop, Bread & Butter, Cashew, Local Juice, and Nutrition World), there are multiple chances to support this wonderful, family owned small business.

As I am an omnivore who eats gluten and all the things, I am always open to eating a vegan dish as I feel to live any other way would be too limiting in living to my full potential. Variety IS the spice of life and I enjoy engaging all five senses in discovering my new favorite. I am a sucker for olives so the Olive & Rosemary is so far my fave but they have only been at the market for a few weeks and there is plenty more time to try a new flavor each week.

Stop by and welcome Ben & Nicole to the market and discover your new favorite spread!
