Sixth generation farmer and former navy, Roy Jones has been providing fruits to the region for decades. Along with his marketing guru and wife Bonnie, Roy is able to produce amazing fruits like blueberries and blackberries but he is known for his strawberries and peaches. His email is even RoyTheStrawberryMan@gmail. Although his three children have helped out on the farm, as Roy did when he was a child, his youngest daughter Rebecca can be seen at weekly markets helping keep lines short and customers smiling. Fun fact, the popular HBO series “The Outsider” recently filmed episodes upon Jones Farm as it has a secluded cave which is an ideal setting for the mysterious Appalachian mountains.

Jones Farm has been attending the MSFM for only a few years but they are no strangers to bringing quality and quantity of fruit, squash and corn to Chattanooga. Roy recalls the original Chattanooga Farmers market off 11th St. where farmers would get there before dawn, sleep in their trucks and “you would start selling when the first customer showed up.”

Bringing corn, watermelon, cantaloupe and pumpkins are some rare finds we don’t often get locally in abundance but Jones’ farm main crops are strawberries and peaches. As the strawberry season has passed and peaches are beginning to peak, definitely stop by Jones Farm whenever you can to get delectable sweet finds of the season like Violet Jelly, melons and more.
